|>The Challenge

From idea to product

OnTheSide came to us with an ambitious vision: give athletes the tools to share knowledge, grow an audience, and earn income through digital content and sponsorships. This was a true greenfield project — starting from a blank page and building a scalable product ready for global growth. The challenge was multi-dimensional — building real-time social features, a peer-to-peer sponsorship system, video streaming infrastructure, and subscription management. All while keeping the user experience seamless and the architecture scalable.

How we helped

From the very start, our work with OnTheSide has been about turning vision into reality. We helped shape the technical strategy, put together the right team, and designed the architecture that makes the platform scalable and ready to grow. Together with the full team, we've helped bring the platform to life — from peer-to-peer sponsorships and subscription management to video on demand and social networking features. We've been a sounding board for important product decisions, making sure every choice supported both the business and the user experience. We built on a modern stack: Next.js and React on the frontend with Tamagui for cross-platform UI, PostgreSQL for data, and a Kubernetes-based infrastructure on AWS with full GitOps through ArgoCD. Key technical decisions included using NX for monorepo management, Kysely for type-safe database queries, and CDK8s for infrastructure as code — giving us both developer velocity and production reliability.

The journey ahead

OnTheSide is still just getting started — and we're excited to continue supporting their mission. Together, we're building a platform that helps athletes share, connect, and succeed, while giving fans a whole new way to be part of the journey. Our partnership is ongoing. We continue to evolve the platform — adding new features, optimizing performance, and scaling infrastructure as the community grows. The foundation we built together is designed to support the next million users.
